The Central Community College Dental Hygiene Program is a 2-year, associate degree program that prepares students to become registered dental hygienists (RDHs). The program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CCDA).
The program is offered at the Hastings Campus of Central Community College. Students in the program take courses in dental anatomy and physiology, dental hygiene instrumentation, dental materials, dental radiology, oral pathology, and preventive oral health. They also complete a clinical practicum in a variety of settings, including dental offices, hospitals, and public health clinics.
To be admitted to the program, students must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a GPA of at least 2.5, and satisfactory scores on the Dental Admission Test (DAT). They must also complete an interview and submit letters of recommendation.
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE). Upon passing the NBDHE, they will be eligible to become licensed RDHs in Nebraska and other states.
